The Medicinal Plants cultivation Project is a transformative initiative that aims to empower rural communities through sustainable medicinal plant cultivation. The project, supported by EY GDS, is implemented in three phases. The focus is on training farmers, promoting the cultivation of medicinal plants and establishing direct contacts with buyers to ensure fair market access.

 The project is currently in its third phase and continues to empower farmers in various villages by providing them with the knowledge and resources to grow valuable medicinal plants such as turmeric, ashwagandha and ginger. Each phase of the project involves 50 farmers from different villages. Phase 1 was implemented in Vellakulam village, followed by Phase 2 in Vechapathy village and now Phase 3 in Edavani village. The project also focuses on improving agricultural practices, increasing yields and ensuring high-quality production through practical training and guidance from experts. A central aspect of the project is the creation of a sustainable market for farmers’ products. Agency  has facilitated connections between farmers and buyers, ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their crops while eliminating middlemen. By focusing on both the cultivation process and market access, the project helps farmers build stable and profitable livelihoods, has a lasting impact on the local economy, and promotes the use of medicinal plants for health and well-being.
